Gigabyte is the latest company to release Windows 7 versions of its T1028X/M1022 mini laptops in Japan. According to Gigabyte Japan, the Gigabyte T1028X touchscreen netbook features a 1366 x 768 touchscreen display, 1 GB of RAM, a 250 GB HDD, and a 6-cell battery and a 1.66GHz Intel Atom N280 CPU. The machine will run Windows 7 Starter Edition. It’ll sell for about $800. The other Windows 7 mini laptop is the Gigabyte Booktop M1022 which features a 10.1-inch display of the same resolution, 1.66GHz Intel Atom N280 CPU, 1GB of RAM, 250GB hard drive, and 6 cell, 7800mAh battery, GMA 950 graphics chipset. It’ll sell for about $740 in Japan.
ASUS has announced its new business mini laptop – the Eee PC 1005HA Business edition. The specifications of this new business model is pretty similar to the HP 5101 and the Dell Latitude 2100. The new model has an Atom N280 processor, a 10.1-inch display with 1,024×600 resolution, a 160GB hard drive and 10.2h of battery life. It also has 2GB of RAM, Bluetooth 2.1+EDR, onboard GMA 950 graphics, a multi-in-one card slot, 1.3 Megapixel webcam and three USB ports. The 1005HA Business edition will be available in Japan from the 20th of October for around $715 with Windows XP Professional (as a Windows Vista downgrade option). It’s worth noting that computer hardware in general is more expensive in Japan than other parts of the world.
The leaked Eee PC 1201N mini laptop is a higher-end model from ASUS. Now that netbooks are getting larger, we can expect the Eee PC 1201N to have a 12.1-inch widescreen display with LED backlight and full-size keyboard, it’s set to come out with the NVidia ION chipset and the dual core Atom 330 processor. It also has a large 320GB hard drive, 3GB of RAM, 6-cell battery, Bluetooth 802.11b/g/n WiFi. The 2 main selling points of the 1201N are: Highly anticipated Nvidia ION graphics and Long battery life. Expect to see it available in Italy, although we have no idea on the pricing details as at press time.
