If you’re a NEC lover then here’s a good news for you: NEC just announced that their NEC LaVie S laptop is going to launch soon with a 1.86 GHz Celeron P4500, a 2.26 GHz Core i3-350M, or 2.26 GHz Core i5-430M processor powered by Intel’s Next Gen Calpella platform. The 15.6-inch NEC LaVie S comes with a 15.6-inch (1366×768) LED-backlit display and Intel integrated graphics. Other specs of the NEC LaVie S includes 10/100 Ethernet, Wi-Fi b/g/n, a DVD writer, and three USB 2.0 ports. It is preinstalled Windows 7 Home Premium OS. The price is arround $1080 and available in white, red and black when it launches in April 2010.
NEC LaVie Light series Intel Pine Trail mini laptop: NEC, a Japanese PC manufacturer, has expanded its netbook lineup with NEC LaVie Light series, which is based on Intel Pine Trail platform. According to NEC, the new LaVie Light netbook boasts on GMA3150 integrated graphics and Atom N450 processor, the higher end BL530/WH6B is powered by 2GB RAM, 320GB disk, Windows 7 Home Premium and 6-cell battery with 7.6 hours lifetime. Features a 10.1-inch display with a 1366 x 768 resolution. The lower end BR340/WD is powered by 1GB of RAM, a 250GB hard drive and Windows 7 Starter. Features a 10.1-inch display with a 1024 x 600 resolution. There’s no info on pricing and availability.

Weight and size reduction, while improving performance, is a good direction for mini laptops to go in, the NEC VersaPro VS-7 netbook measures 0.6-inches thin and weighs 1.6 pounds. It’s really thin! And light! The Atom based, ultra-light and ultra-thin laptop is equipped with a 10.6-inch screen with 1208×768 resolution, 1GB RAM, 64GB SSD, USB slots, Ethernet ports, SD card reader. Under the hood is a low power Intel Atom Z540 (1.84GHz) processor and battery life is 4.7 hours on standard battery.
