Toshiba has rolled out a new hard drive for mini laptop users, the MKxx56GSY 2.5″ HDD. Obviously, a high-volume drive may appeal to some netbook users attempting to use their machines for more than casual use. The MKxx56GSY series of drives are 2.5-inch SATA models running min at 7,200 rpm all the way up to 500 GB. It offers up to 1,255 Mbps transfer rate and average seek time is 11ms. Toshiba says the entire range of HDDs is 13 percent faster than its predecessor. Toshiba’s netbook sales now account for 10% of Toshiba’s PC sales in the US, laptop shipments only three months after the first model of the company went on sale outside Japan.

I’m intrigued by the spec’s of the Toshiba’s Dynabook MX/33 mini laptop. Its really an amazing.. Toshiba will release the Dynabook MX/33 on October 22nd for $1000 in Japan. The Toshiba Dynabook MX/33 has a 1.3GHz Intel Celeron 743 single core CPU, a 9.5 hour battery, and an 11.6 inch, 1366 x 768 pixel display. It will also have a 250GB hard drive and 2GB of RAM and run Windows 7.
