Gateway has just launched its new mini laptop, the EC14 netbook. This laptop is basically a 1810TZ shuved in a gateway shell and based around energy efficient Intel CULV platform. The CULV laptop is equipped with a 11.6-inch widescreen display with a resolution of 1366×768 pixels, a 1.3GHz Pentium Dual Core SU1400 CPU, 320GB hard drive, a 4GB RAM (up to 8GB), and an Intel GMA 4500MHD GPU. As for the graphics performance, the 4500MHD is actually very competent at playing back HD video even with the SU1400 (running Vista Home Premium), so a
faster CPU and Windows 7 should be an improvement. Other features include a trio of USB 2.0 sockets, WiFi, gigabit Ethernet, HDMI output, multi-gesture trackpad and a 6 cell battery with 8 hours lifetime. The dimensions for the EC14 are 28.4×2.9×20.3 cm and weight 1.7 kg. The Gateway EC14 is available in two colors including Cherry Red and NightSky Black, you can grab one this week, October 22nd, for $549.
